My Father recently got into playing bass and I wanted to make him something special.
I started with a Jazz bass kit from solo and had the idea of grain filling it and dying it a reddish colour.
For the headstock I added a decal and really dressed it up, also gave it some really tight retro style hipshot open gear tuners.
Installed a nut and so on
Sanding and grain filling, then dying. Messy business.
Gave the headstock a nice oil varathane gloss for some vintage vibe.
Custom pick guard since the stock kit has annoyingly non-standard jazz pickup routings!
